 Josh Frydenberg brings up Hodgman Government’s disastrous energy security decision  Federal Minister reminds voters of costly decision to “mothball” and sell the Tamar Valley Power Station Federal Energy Minister Josh Fydenberg has reminded Australia of the Hodgman Government’s failures when it comes to energy security. “The Federal Minister has taken a swipe at his Liberal colleagues in the Hodgman Government, reminding the country that the Tamar Valley Power Station was “mothballed” at a time Tasmania needed it most,” Shadow Energy Minister Scott Bacon said. Discussing Australia’s current energy requirements in the midst of a heatwave, Josh Frydenberg reminded Australians of the Hodgman Government’s biggest energy blunder. “A number on unprecedented actions have been taken over the last 12 months to prepare for these challenges including bringing on three gas-fired power stations that were previously mothballed – one in Queensland, one in Tasmania and one in South Australia.” (Federal Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg, 2GB Radio 19/1/2018) “It’s an embarrassing reminder of the disastrous decision to put the Tamar Valley Power Station up for sale,” Mr Bacon said. “The decision to sell and “mothball” the Tamar Valley Power Station was a major contributing factor to Tasmania’s energy crisis which cost taxpayers more than $160 million.”
