Rising power bills are hurting Tasmanian households.
A Majority Labor Government will work with the community to trial solar panels and battery storage on up to 100 low income community houses to help ease the pressure on their power bills.
Labor wants to support Tasmanians on lower incomes who are finding it hard to pay their power bills.
This trial will show households how they can use less energy, be more efficient and reduce their cost of living.
TasNetworks will be able to use this trial to prepare for the take-up of battery storage and better understand how these new systems can work together with the traditional grid.
Solar panels and batteries will be supplied and installed in partnership with renewable energy and battery storage companies.
This trial will provide the added benefit of allowing TasNetworks to use stored battery power to help maintain energy security when there is high demand.
