A major victory for Labor with commitment to health roundtables
- Labor achieves significant win with Government supporting health crisis talks
- Fantastic outcome for Tasmanian health professionals and patients
- Labor expects invitations to roundtable forums soon
Labor has achieved a major victory today with the passing of a motion calling for all sides of Parliament to work together to tackle Tasmania’s health crisis.
Labor’s motion, which was passed unanimously, requires the Government to convene roundtables involving all sides of politics, health professionals, unions and other stakeholders between now and the end of the year to progress solutions to the health crisis.
Labor Leader, Rebecca White, said it was a fantastic outcome for Tasmanian’s health professionals and those suffering as a result of the current dire state of our health system.
“We are delighted the Government will now finally work with us to find solutions to the current crisis in our health system,” Ms White said.
“Labor has a number of ideas for how to fix the health system and we are eager to discuss this with the Government and health experts so we can start implementing actions immediately to help ease the pressure on the system.
“I now look forward to the Premier inviting us to these roundtables so we can start working together before the end of the year as agree by the Parliament today.”
