Barnett must condemn Morrison’s plan to sell Hydro
- Liberal Governments across nation slam plan – but not Hodgman Government
- Morrison’s plan would mean higher bills for Tasmanian families
Shadow Minister for Energy David O’Byrne has called on the Hodgman Government to call out Scott Morrison’s plan to privatise energy assets.
“Yesterday Minister Guy Barnett failed to stand up to the Federal Government on their push to privatise government-owned energy assets,” Mr O’Byrne said.
“Mr Barnett said he had no concerns over the plan, which is a direct threat to Hydro’s future.
“The Minister and Hydro had not even been briefed by their federal counterparts.
“Everyone knows that selling Hydro to the highest bidder would mean everyday Tasmanians would face higher energy bills.
“So why is Guy Barnett putting his Liberal mates in Canberra before Tasmanian families?
“The Hodgman Government needs to come out today and, like Liberal leaders in other states, tell Scott Morrison his plan is out of touch.”
