Early Childhood Educators Day

  • Celebrating early educators
  • Early childhood workers deserve more
  • Pandemic pressure taking its toll

On Early Childhood Educators’ Day Labor would like to add its voice in support of all of Tasmania’s educators in early learning services.

Shadow Minister for Education Josh Willie said it’s a chance to say thank you for the wonderful contribution these essential workers make to the wellbeing and healthy development of our young children.

“Every day they are educating and caring for our children, ensuring they get the best possible start in life.

“But while early childhood educators have carried a significant burden of care during the pandemic, they have been sold terribly short by the Morrison government.

“Early education received only limited access to JobKeeper in the first instance and then it was the first sector to have JobKeeper removed.

“The education and care sector employs more than 3000 people across Tasmania, 98 per cent of them women.

“Today and every day they deserve our appreciation and recognition, and they deserve much more from the federal government.”
