Full investigation needed into Premier and Ferguson’s lies and cover-up
- Why was Michael Ferguson even talking to Cricket Tasmania?
- What right does Michael Ferguson have to disclose private medical information?
- Did the Premier order Michael Ferguson to engage in disgraceful behaviour?
Shadow Minister for Health Sarah Lovell today demanded action from the Premier and his Health Minister over their role in the sacking of a Cricket Tasmania employee.
“Yesterday, the Premier admitted that Minister Ferguson held private discussions with Cricket Tasmania, which led to Ms Williamson’s sacking,” Ms Lovell said.
“Why was the Health Minister talking to Cricket Tasmania in the first place?
“What right does Michael Ferguson have to disclose private medical information to an employer?
“Did the Premier order Michael Ferguson to engage in this disgraceful and possibly unlawful behaviour?
“An independent and thorough investigation is required now – the Premier’s word that his right hand man didn’t cross the line is not good enough.
“The Premier and Michael Ferguson are both neck deep in this terrible situation following the admission that Premier Hodgman’s principal adviser Martine Haley trolled Ms Williamson earlier this year and Mr Ferguson’s comments in the media this week.
“Nothing short of a full independent investigation of each Liberal ministerial office is required to find out who allegedly sought to pressure Cricket Tasmania and Cricket Australia to fire an employee.
“The Premier must agree to that investigation and it must start today.
“Anyone involved in these disgraceful acts must be sacked.”
