Hodgman continues to ignore regional healthcare workers

  • More broken promises from Hodgman
  • Hardworking staff ignored
  • Over 300 locals sign petition to save North West Coast rehab beds

Will Hodgman has failed to answer if staff have lost their job as a result of his broken promise to keep eight rehabilitation beds at the North West Regional Hospital open.

Labor member for Braddon, Anita Dow, said Will Hodgman had ignored hardworking staff.

Over 300 outraged locals have signed a petition to save the NWRH rehab beds. Mrs Dow will table the petition in Parliament later this year.

“The decision to close the eight rehab beds was made without consulting the local community and without recognising the barriers it already faces when it comes to accessing employment and health services.

“It is deeply concerning that the Government is prepared to disregard the wellbeing of patients and staff so easily.

“It’s critical that our health system is equitable across the entire region yet people on the North-West Coast and in regional Tasmania are continually being left behind by the Liberals. It’s unfair.

“We know the Government has mismanaged the Budget but it doesn’t mean local people, their jobs and their health and wellbeing should have to pay.”
