Liberals failing to advocate for Tasmania’s City Deal

  • Hodgman Government incapable of advocating for Tasmania on City Deal
  • Tasmanians want tangible action – not more talk

The Hodgman Liberal Government must stand up for Tasmania and push their federal counterparts on the long-awaited City Deal for Hobart.

Shadow Infrastructure Minister David O’Byrne said Tasmanians were sick and tired of talk and wanted tangible outcomes.

“This is just another example of the Tasmanian Liberal Government being incapable of advocating for Tasmania within its own party,” Mr O’Byrne said.

“Yet again, the state and federal liberals are at odds over important decisions affecting our state and the people of Tasmania are becoming increasingly frustrated.

“We now have the Mayors of Hobart’s four councils calling for answers on when the deal will be signed and the Government is doing nothing to enforce this with their federal colleagues.

“We need action now so Tasmania can move forward with certainty.”
