Liberals must release agenda for State Council
- Liberal meeting shrouded in secrecy
- Unlike Liberals, Labor is transparent about conferences
- Use of Cricket Tasmania headquarters a bad look for Liberals
The Chair of Labor’s Transparency Committee, Jo Siejka, has called on the Liberals to release the agenda for this weekend’s State Council.
“Unlike the Labor Party, which releases its agenda, in full, to members and the media, the Liberals’ State Council is shrouded in secrecy,” Ms Siejka said.
“Clearly the agenda will be set by hardline conservatives such as Eric Abetz and Michael Ferguson and administration staff must be too ashamed for it to be revealed.”
The Council kicks off tomorrow night when Liberal members assemble at Blundstone Arena for a $180 a head dinner with the Prime Minister.
Ms Siejka said it was a bad look for the Liberals to be assembling at Cricket Tasmania headquarters in the wake of the Angela Williamson sacking scandal.
“This is the headquarters of the same organisation with who Michael Ferguson discussed Angela Williamson’s termination before she was sacked,” Ms Siejka said.
“For the Liberals to now hold their State Council at the home of Cricket Tasmania is galling.”
