New report endorses several of Labor’s solutions to the housing crisis
- Property Council report endorses key solutions recommended by Labor
- Government needs to listen and start taking action
A new report investigating options to fix Tasmania’s housing crisis endorses several solutions put forward by Labor.
Shadow Minister for Housing, Josh Willie, said the report by the Property Council of Australia, Tasmania Division, highlighted several important areas where the Government needed to act.
“It is pleasing to see the report highlights themes raised by the Labor Party including effective planning and encouraging inner city housing development,” Mr Willie said.
“It also recognizes the importance of developing the Glenorchy to Hobart transit corridor which Labor has been lobbying for.
“This would unlock significant social and economic opportunities by allowing for medium-density housing, park and ride car parks, new commercial opportunities, retail and office developments, recreation space and education precincts.
‘The chorus of stakeholders in support of Labor’s solutions is growing louder and the Government needs to listen and start taking action.”
