The people of Braddon vote for better health and education

  • Congratulations to Justine Keay and her team
  • Result shows health is the key issue for Braddon
  • The Premier urged to bring failing Health Minister into line

Braddon Labor MPs Shane Broad and Anita Dow have congratulated Justine Keay and her team for a hard fought and deserved victory in the Braddon by-election.

“Justine has worked tirelessly to stand up for the people of Braddon and deserves this win because she cares, listens and respects,” Dr Broad said.

“The clear and consistent message throughout the campaign was that health was the number one issue concerning voters.

“The result sends a clear message to the Premier Will Hodgman that he needs to take health seriously.

“That means holding his Health Minister responsible for the crisis in our health system and standing him aside.”

Ms Dow said the Premier needed to start listening to regional Tasmanians.

“The Government needs to prioritise investment in health services in regional areas and ensure all Tasmanian’s have better access to specialists and GPs,” Ms Dow said.

“Furthermore, strong results across the country in these by-elections shows voters have had enough of the Liberals’ arrogance and their failure to prioritise investment in essential services.”
