Third Liberal PM since Hodgman took office and still no love for Tasmania
- Tasmania needs a 100% GST assurance
- PM must provide investment in Hobart City Deal
- Will conservative views prevail over renewable energy jobs?
Labor Leader Rebecca White said Scott Morrison has a simple check list for his first visit to Tasmania as Prime Minister.
“Scott Morrison’s first statement when he gets off his plane should be to abandon plans to short change Tasmania on the GST,” Ms White said.
“The Prime Minister then has to put serious money where his mouth is for the Hobart City Deal. Tasmania’s traffic and skills problems can’t be solved with a flashy MOU – we need investment.
“He also needs to provide iron clad guarantees for Tasmania’s renewable energy projects.
“We know that his new Energy Minister has the same enthusiasm for renewables as Senator Eric Abetz. Anything short of a full guarantee that this project will be underway before the election is a failure.
“This is a real test for Premier Hodgman.
“If Scott Morrison arrives with a big-talking sermon at the Liberal Council and no solutions, we know that once again the Premier has been too weak to stand up to his Liberal Prime Minister.”
