Labor stands in solidarity with JBS workers and Tasmania’s meat processing industry
Tasmanian Labor stands in solidarity with the 300 staff that have been stood down at JBS Longford after a cyber-attack and acknowledges the impact this will have on Tasmania’s meat processing industry.
Acting Labor Leader Anita Dow said Labor was closely monitoring the serious situation at JBS.
“The cyber-attack that has crippled JBS Longford has sent shockwaves throughout the community and I extend my thoughts to those 300 workers who are now facing uncertain times,” Ms Dow said.
“The shutdown of the Longford facility will have wide-ranging ramifications to the meat processing industry in Tasmania, impacting directly on workers, primary producers and the supply chain.
“JBS is an important employer for Tasmania and it is crucial this operation is back up and running as soon as possible so those 300 workers can get back on the job and the industry can resume normal operations.”
