Luke Edmunds MLC promoted to Shadow Ministry
I’m delighted to welcome Pembroke MLC Luke Edmunds to Labor’s Shadow Ministry.
Luke will take on the Local Government, Planning and Disability portfolios.
Luke knows Local Government very well having served on the Clarence Council for approximately four years.
He understands the need to progress sensible planning reform to support our economy and community and build the houses we need to address the growing housing crisis.
As the cost of living crisis worsens he will stand up for households against new state government taxes and levies that they might try to pass on through council rates, just like they did with the bin tax.
Luke also knows firsthand the challenges faced by people living with a disability and their families, and I have no doubt he will advocate strongly for improvements in the disability sector.
Luke taking on more responsibility will also enable my Deputy Anita Dow to have an even stronger focus on the critical health portfolio which has been neglected by the Premier in his role as a part-time Health Minister.
Tasmanians deserve a much better health system than this government has provided.
Tasmania’s health system is in crisis and the government is more obsessed with building a stadium than addressing health as a key priority.
Labor’s strong and experienced team has the skills and right priorities to take our state forward.
