Dean Winter
Franklin Members of Parliament
I was raised and educated in Kingston Beach where I returned to live with my wife Allison in 2013. Since then, we have started our own family, with two young children, George and Harriet.
I was elected as a Kingborough Councillor in 2014. In that role, I advocated against high rate rises and for a simpler planning scheme. A ‘back to what matters’ platform saw me elected as Mayor of Kingborough in 2018. Elected at the age of 33, I am the youngest Mayor in Kingborough’s 110-year history.
Being the Mayor of Kingborough Council is the best job I’ve ever had. In my almost seven years on Kingborough Council, we have achieved a lot. We have been building public toilets, roads and footpaths. We built Tasmania’s best playground, we fixed the water quality at Blackmans Bay Beach and designed and funded the rebuild of Kingston. I have taken the opportunity to stand for the seat of Franklin because I feel that this is my best chance of tackling the bigger issues for the Kingborough, Huon and Clarence areas.
I’m going to be running a positive campaign about the issues in the electorate of Franklin. I hope you will support me.
