Josh Willie

Elwick

Josh Willie is the Labor Member for the Elwick in Tasmanian’s Legislative Council. Josh lives in the northern suburbs with his family and he’s a strong voice for the northern suburbs.

Josh is a proud University of Tasmania alumnus. He has a Batchelor of Arts, majoring in Political Science and Journalism and a Bachelor of Teaching.

Josh is a passionate public education advocate, proud AEU member and former workplace representative. He has an interest in the community sector and he’s a proud HACSU member. Josh has a history of community involvement including mentoring kids at risk with Whitelion, fundraising $30,000 for legacy scholarships with The Smith Family, he’s a Donate Life donor family member, the former Tasmanian ALP Education Platform Chair, a former Glenorchy Branch ALP Treasurer and current President of the Old Scholars Football Association.

Throughout his professional career Josh has been a dedicated and hardworking primary school teacher. He has held numerous leadership positions within schools including Acting Advance Skills Teacher. At the time of his election Josh was an upper primary school teacher at a school in the northern suburbs. Josh has an unwavering commitment to fairness, decency and compassion. He has a proven track record improving the lives of young people.
